Lizzie Loses 3rd Tooth

Lizzie has been waiting for this tooth to come out for over a month! We all have, I suppose. The battle was won today. It was dramatic and long, but in the end the tooth is out. Lizzie was funny when it was all done and said, "that wasn't so bad". With the way she was acting, you would have thought she was in labor. She was squealing and squeezing my hand. Possible glimpses of the future passed through my mind and I smiled. Her lisp is cute and sometimes exaggerated. The other top tooth should be out soon. Then she will sing "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth". :-)

Family Photo Time!!

Getting a family picture taken was way over due!! The last time we had one was with our church directory when Josh was 2 or 3 months old! Anyway, we got it done and now that the kids are older, it's much more fun!! Here's what we ended up with. Enjoy!

Lizzie Turns 7!!

Lizzie was counting down the days until her party! We hadn't had a party with friends at our house in a few years, so she was excited.

Here is a close up of her cake and candle.

Lizzie was excited to have a friend party at our house this year! From left to right and front to back they are:
Kaleigh R., Julia, Grace, Lizzie, Jenna, Abigail and Kaleigh G.

Lizzie had a plan for opening presents. She would sit on the ottoman and whoever got her the gift she was opening would get to sit with her. She told her friend's the instructions and made sure they followed them. It was funny! Here is Lizzie and Kaleigh G.

It's Abigail's turn.

Lizzie has been wanting a Nintendo DS. It was on her birthday and Christmas list. We told her if she got it, then it would be from us and a grandparent and there wouldn't be lots of little gifts. She was fine with it and very excited when she opened it! For the DS and last few presents from grandparents she was predicting what they would be and it was funny. She was very excited!

The girls were very loud and squealy. Tim couldn't believe there were only 7 in the house. :-) They ran around, colored and played with balloons. After presents some of them gathered tissue paper and threw it in the air. Then they put it behind them like tails. Here is Lizzie's tail.
Happy Birthday Lizzie!!!

School Pictures!!

At long last we have a new post and new pictures! Josh hasn't had a picture taken in a studio in years. None on the kids have, but at least Lizzie had school pictures taken last year. It wasn't worth all of the crying that would occur and we had plenty of pictures we took. Anyway, here they are!

Josh had his pictures taken at Studio One in the mall. I had a coupon and they seemed to be good. They have the "subject" sit or stand on the floor rather than on a table so I thought he would be less scared. He was a little shy at first, but then did really well. It didn't help that there were 3 golden retrievers before him getting pictures taken! There were so many choices it was hard to narrow them down in the end! Here are a few of my favorites.

This is a composite that the person at the shop did with some of his action shots. They also colorized it. I loved it, but couldn't afford it!!

Jumping!!

Throwing leaves in the air!

This is Josh's favorite- "the one with the pumpkin on my head", he says!!

Next is Mr. Ben! He did so well with his first school picture. He's grown way too fast and already in Kindergarten. I can't believe it!!

Last, but not least, it's Lizzie A. First Grader! She did a great job too.

Hope you enjoy the photos. Hope it won't be so long until my next post!!

A New School Year

Here we are on the first day of school for Lizzie and Ben. Ben is in Kindergarten this year and Lizzie is a first grader. I can't believe I have two in school now! Josh has missed them a lot already, and I do too!

Ben on the way down the hall to find his class on meet the teacher day.

He found it!

Josh was a form of entertainment while the teacher talked. Hopefully he'll listen better when it's his turn for school in a couple years! :-)

I'm filling out papers for Ben.

Ben's cubby where he will hang his coat and bag.

Ben ready to go!! He is so cute!

Lizzie is too!

Aren't they cute?!

On the way into the school with dad. Josh is with me since he is sad.

Ben found his name on the table and sat by it.

Lizzie is happy she gets her own desk this year!!

They did a good job riding the bus home. I'm always nervous about that! Lizzie is a big helper for Ben!

Ben when he got home. He loved his class. I was very relieved!

Josh was napping and Ben woke him up when he got home.

Josh was glad to see Ben.

Chichen Itza Pizza

Once again, I have to feature Josh. For those who know the backyardigan's this will be a bit more funny.
We were praying before dinner the other night and Ben wanted to sing God our Father. He did and then Josh wanted to sing. Here is Josh's version of God our Father:
God our Father
God our Father
Chichen itza pizza
Chichen itza pizza
All done, all done.

I laughed pretty hard at that one. For those who haven't seen the show, there is an episode of the Backyardigan's where they make pizza in ancient Chichen Itza Mexico and deliver it to a king. They call their business Chichen Itza Pizza.

O where little boys will put pebbles!

Josh decided he wasn't going to nap this past Sunday afternoon. He was in his room playing quietly, sometimes laying down and getting in to mischief.
When rest time was over for him he came out of his room and told Tim that he had a rock in his nose. (I was asleep at the time). Tim said he didn't see anything up there and went about his business.
Later, Tim was looking for the nasal aspirator and asked me where it is... I told him exactly where, and asked, why, does Josh have a boogie? He filled me in about the rock statement. I looked up his nose and saw it very easily. We tried a few ways to get it out, but Josh wasn't about to lay still for us. We were one adult short of hands to keep him down. Josh was worn out after a little while, and so was I. He fell asleep while leaning on me on the couch. He slept about an hour and Tim and I decided he needed to go to Urgent Care. This was around 6pm. (Josh doesn't understand how to blow his nose and kept sniffing it in higher).
Tim, my hero because urgent cares and ER's aren't my specialty, took him to the UC and called me within an hour on the way home. He said the doctor had just the right tool for getting it out. Some kind of mechanical finger that went right up there. It did take three of them to hold Josh down. I asked Tim if Josh cried and he said, oh yeah. I asked if they sedated him and he said no.
When they pulled in the driveway, Josh was all happy in the van with his stickers and lollipops, oh and the pebble wrapped in gauze to show me. mmmm!  He climbed out of the van and gave his rendition of what happened. I asked if he cried and he said, with a serious look on his face, "no, mom I screamed". I laughed!
Anyway, that was our adventure this weekend. It seems to be our first crazy kid adventure. I guess it doesn't surprise me that it was Josh that it happened to. :-)

Boys, boys everywhere!

This morning I awoke to Tim telling me goodbye and the feeling of being crushed!
Apparently I had good reason. Ben was laying on top of me! Josh had come in around 5:30 sometime from a bad dream. Ben came shortly after that. I just remember Tim saying he was getting up soon anyway...I was out of it. It seems I sleep the soundest from around 5am-8am. Anyway, thought you may enjoy the moment Tim captured without us knowing a thing.

A trip to Michigan

The kids and I drove to Michigan on July 2nd. We are still here and leaving in a few days. I figured I'd try a post from my sister's laptop. We went to Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum, in Dearborn, MI, the other day. There are pictures from that and other random fun things.

The kids love going through the tunnels in the mountains so I took their picture.

Josh playing ball with my dad, Bepop.

Enjoying Superman flavor ice cream!

As soon as we entered Greenfield Village a train came by and scared the boys. We had a chance to ride it later and it turned out to be their favorite thing there. :-)

This is the engine of the train we rode.

Josh inside a train engine in the museum. He looks dangerous.

They all like to take pictures. Ben took several, but this is the funniest. He wanted to take a picture of his shoes.

Josh took this one of Lizzie and Ben.

Waiting for the train.

My dad went with the kids and I. Here we are on the train.

The kids and I in the Village.

Lizzie took this picture of Ben and I at the roundhouse. Just like from Thomas.

The kids near a cornfield. Guess is was too bright for the boys.

The kids checkin' out a sheep. They were surprisingly loud.
This was a pretty house and garden we saw.
We've had a great time so far.

Star Wars

I have 2 great Jedi's! The kids have been all pumped about Star Wars for the last month or so and they"finally" got light sabers. Lizzie has one too, it's blue. She's at school having fun at Field Day today with her Dad. Notice the boys were watching episode VI while doing this.:-)  Their favorite is episode I (they haven't seen them all and sometimes they like to skip to the battles!)  Josh loves the battle droids that say "roger roger", and when jar jar binks says "my give up!". Sorry if I have misspelled any words to all you die hard fans!

Jedi's sometimes fight with their eyes closed.

Looks like the little feisty one is taking a lead

Ben wanted to do these last 2 poses of them getting each others legs and making a face!
